Holiday home in Hermigua in a quiet location
The holiday home and finca "El Molino Viejo" is situated in the green valley of Hermigua, in a very quiet location. The quiet solitary location is surrounded by green banana plantations and fruit trees and close to the village centre.
The old Canarian mill has been converted into a cosy, rustic holiday home and offers a beautiful and quiet ambience for a relaxing holiday on La Gomera.
You will feel comfortable and at ease the moment you walk through the iron entrance gate and over the large terrace to the old stone-built house. In front of the house, under a solid wooden roof, there is a veranda with a dining table and four chairs. The ideal place to enjoy your meals outside or while away the evening with a glass of wine. For a hearty barbecue a rustic grill is also at your disposal.
The roofed veranda connects the individual rooms according to the old Canarian custom. There are three doors leading into the house from here. First the living/bedroom with two comfortable single beds - which you might push together for a wide double bed - as well as a spacious wardrobe in the sleeping area at the back of the room.
The living area is equipped with a sofa, an armchair with reading lamp and a low table. The sofa bed provides a place to sleep for another adult or two children. The TV set and the Wi-Fi connection are additional conveniences. Many historical details, such as the old millstone or the decorative objects on the wall remind us of the time when the finca "El Molino Viejo" was still a mill.
The second door leads to the small country house kitchen which is fully equipped with everything you need in the holiday kitchen. There is also a dining table with four chairs. The third door leads to the bathroom with shower. A washing machine is also available.

Nos encantó nuestra estancia en el antiguo molino. Era súper tranquilo y privado y la gran terraza/área al aire libre rodeada de árboles de aguacate y mango, así como plantas de plátano, es particularmente hermosa. Recibíamos la visita diaria de una gallina encantadora, a la que de vez en cuando mimábamos con golosinas apropiadas para su especie :-) Las camas son súper cómodas y todo está impecablemente limpio. Por las noches puede hacer frío, sobre todo en invierno, pero el calefactor existente proporciona (en nuestra opinión) suficiente calor. A poca distancia a pie hay un supermercado y varios bares y restaurantes. El aparcamiento es fácil y seguro en la tranquila carretera de acceso. Es muy fácil llegar a Gerlinde y los pedidos especiales se gestionan con prontitud. Regresaríamos inmediatamente y nos llevaríamos este maravilloso lugar a nuestros corazones.
Si buscas paz y tranquilidad, ¡este es tu lugar! Para mí es el lugar perfecto, lejos de todo el bullicio y con todo lo que necesitas al alcance de la mano. ¡Me encantaría volver!
Our stay in Finca el Molino Viejo was amazing. A beautiful stone cottage surronded by banana and orange trees and hills of La Gomera. The cottage was quiet, easy-accesible, clean and an atmospheric place with a good vibe. Contact with Gerline was easy and good, so was check-in and check-out. Hermigua and the whole island of La Gomera are simply stunning. The only issue we experienced was when on our 1st day in the cottage there were working gardeners using nosiy tools and walking around since 9am. The problem was that we were not informed in advance aboit it. Still, our time there was incredible and we highly recommend this place and Gerlinde as a host. Thank you!
Unsere Zeit in Hermigua und die Unterkunft in der Molino Viejo war super. Die Unterkunft ist super gelegen und eine gute Ausgangsbasis für viele schöne Wanderungen und andere Aktivitäten. Restaurants, Supermarkt, Bäckerei.. alles für den täglichen Bedarf ist in unmittelbarer Nähe erreichbar. Wir haben uns in der sehr liebevoll aufgearbeiteten und eingerichteten Unterkunft sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Finca ist sehr ruhig und im Grünen gelegen. Alles war bestens - es hat uns an nichts gefehlt.

Tolles Haus in wunderschöner Umgebung. Einziger Nachteil: die Sonne kommt im Dezember erst um 11h zum Grundstück und es bleibt dementsprechend lange kühl dort
Aus der Schweiz ( - 5 ° ) direkt ins Paradies mit 27° ende Nov. Atlantik ruhig und sehr warm 24 ° Essen super ! Wir kommen wieder ! A + C aus der Schweiz ( 60 Jahre + )
Lo mejor es La Paz que se encuentra en la finca, no tuvimos ningún tipo de problema y siempre fueron muy atentos. Repetiremos
Für uns perfekt gelegen an einer ruhigen Seitenstraße - und dennoch in Hermigua mit seinen vielfältigen Angeboten. Die „Hausmeisterin“ Alejandra war sehr nett und hilfsbereit über Telefon und WA - ein persönlicher Kontakt wäre noch schöner gewesen. Das Haus ist grundsätzlich gut ausgestattet. Für ein Schneidbrett haben wir selbst gesorgt. Insgesamt haben wir im Molino Viejo zwei sehr schöne Wochen verbracht! Die Finca war Ausgangspunkt für verschiedenste Wanderungen auf der Insel und auch die Strände von San Sebastian und Santiago waren mit dem Mietwagen noch gut zu erreichen. Wir freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Besuch ;))
Service and communication with the hostess was good. The house itself was well-kept and pretty, and the view over mountains and fruit trees, quite lovely. On the downside, the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom were in three separate buildings (you had to go outdoors, via the patio, to reach the next room), and the location of the house, far within a valley, offered very little sun, the house and terrace subsequently being chilly in the mornings as well as at night (at least in January). Luckily, the beds were comfortable and well-equipped. Wifi and phone signal were practically non-existent. If you’re not renting a car, you may find the walk from Hermigua somewhat long, steep, and eerily dark at night, so make sure to bring a flashlight. The town itself offered some good hiking and a few decent restaurants, but the way it is spread out along the road, without a proper centre, it is not as charming nor as picturesque as, for example, its northern neighbour, Agulo. Bus communications were very poor (access to taxi somewhat better). We had a good time nevertheless.
